A prehistoric adventure awaits in the valley

Imagine wandering through the familiar trails of Healesville Sanctuary, only to find yourself face-to-face with a prehistoric world. The Dinos Lost Sanctuary experience brings the era of reptiles back to life, turning the sanctuary into a living museum of ancient giants.

You’ll find massive, life-sized animatronic reptiles hidden within their natural habitats, creating an immersive atmosphere that feels much more real than a simple museum exhibit. These giant creatures move and inhabit the landscape, giving you the sense that you’ve truly stepped back in time. It is an incredible way to spend a day outdoors, especially as the experience runs throughout the winter school holidays.

The adventure goes beyond just spotting the big reptiles. You can head over to the Dino Egg Hatchery to see where the next generation of prehistoric life begins, or catch one of the daily talks to learn more about these ancient inhabitants. It’s the kind of experience that keeps both kids and adults captivated as they move from one discovery to the next.

If you are visiting with little ones who might find the crowds or noise a bit overwhelming, there is thoughtful accommodation available. You can take advantage of the ‘Dino Doze’ silent hour, held daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, which is specifically designed to meet sensory needs.

The event is running from April 18 through to July 12, 2026. Best of all, the dinosaur experience is free with your regular sanctuary admission until July 12, making it an easy addition to your local weekend plans.

Located on Glen Eadie Avenue in Healesville, the sanctuary is a short, scenic drive from Warburton and most of the Upper Yarra Valley.
